GIRL PRESENTEES BALL GOWN REQUIREMENTS

Presentee Submission Guidelines:

All gowns will be approved on a first come first serve basis

Legacy family gowns (worn by a previously presented family member) will be given priority.  Submission dates for legacy gowns is August 1 through August 14.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Members who may also belong to other Palos Verdes organizations and who have purchased a ball gown that meets current PV Assembly guidelines can submit their gown for consideration during the period of August 1 through August 14.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  These gowns will be considered after the legacy family gowns.

Before purchasing a gown:

Submit a full-length photo showing yourself in the dress with a front and back view.

Include the style number, manufacturer, and the name of the store where it is found.  Please send this information to the Dress and Tux Attire Patroness.  This is necessary as to prevent any duplication or confusion regarding Ball Gown Guidelines.  If a photo is not sent in for approval, a dress check at the home of the Dress and Tux Attire Patroness will be required.

Styles must be submitted between August 15th and January 18th.  Gowns will be approved on a first come first served basis.
1. All gown photos should be submitted to the Dress and Tux Attire Patroness by Jan. 18th.  Gowns will be approved on a first come first served basis.  (This means if you and another girl want the same dress, the first one to have her dress approved, gets to wear the dress.)  It often takes 4 months to receive a gown once it is ordered and additional weeks for alterations.
2. Before purchasing your gown, please submit a full-length photo showing yourself in the dress with a front and back view of the gown.  Please include the style number and manufacturer of the dress as well as the name of the store where it is found.  Please send this information to the Dress and Tux Attire Patroness.  This is necessary as to prevent any duplications or confusion regarding Ball Gown Guidelines.  If a photo is not sent in for approval, a dress check at the home of the Dress and Tux Attire Patroness will be required.
3. Ball gowns must be white only and opaque. No ivory, off-white, ecru or touches of color are allowed. No sheer bodices are allowed (where skin shows through). No colored embroidery, ribbon or colored beads. No silk fabric, as it is not as white as synthetic fabrics. The fabric may be satin, taffeta, organza, tulle or a combination with minimal lace trim.
4. The gown must be one piece. It must have a full skirt; ball gown or princess cut, in order to make a graceful curtsy. No slim sheaths or slits are permitted. No trains (whether or not bustled) or hoops. You must have a separate petticoat under your gown, full enough to hold the gown out. (No hoop petticoats)
5. The gown may be sleeveless, short sleeved, cap sleeved or off the shoulder style, but not strapless. Spaghetti strap styles and halter straps are permitted.  Strapless or single-strap gowns are NOT allowed.

No flowers or corsages may be worn. A rose bouquet will be provided.
Tips
The purchase of two garment bags is recommended. One must be full length to keep your Ball gown clean as you transport it to the hotel. The second bag must be large enough to store your slip and shoes as you take them to the waltz practices. It is also suggested that you buy a make-up hood to use when changing into your dress for the photographs. This will prevent make-up stains on the gown. Please label all items (including slips, shoes, bags, and clothes) worn to the hotel on the day of the Ball as well as to the rehearsals.
If you have questions about the ball gown requirements, please contact the Dress and Tux Attire Patroness.
